Cardcaptor Sakura is an anime I should have watched when I was a kid, I'd somehow missed this one when I was drowning in magical girl anime at the ripe old age of preteen but damn I'm glad I didn't so I could experience its comfort when I needed it the most.

I wasn't expecting to finish the entire series, I thought I'd give episode 1 a shot, say "awe that's cute" and then never think about it again, maybe go back to watching something seasonal. Instead, I remembered why I started watching anime in the first place. It would be easy to go on about how creative Cardcaptor is with its approach to the magical girl genre but the real reason why I love it so much is because I never felt like I had to force myself into continuing the series. Every episode gave me that nostalgic childlike sense of hope and encouragement that everything will be alright.
